IS YOUR CHILD DUE TO START SCHOOL IN SEPTEMBER 2024? WHY NOT BOOK A TOUR OF OUR AMAZING SCHOOL AND COME AND SEE WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER?
Welcome to the Reception Class, 2023-2024.
We can’t wait to start our exciting learning for this year. In Early Years our focus is to create a fun learning environment that nurtures, engages and challenges your children to become independent learners; setting them on the road to becoming confident lifelong learners.
We use the government EYFS framework and using Development Matters (2021) to work hard to provide stimulating activities and learning experiences for your child.
We teach the initial stages of learning to read using Floppy’s Phonics. We use Marvellous Me and Tapestry to give regular updates to parents and carers.
During the Autumn term, we will be learning about ourselves and discussing people who are important to us and who help us. We will base our learning around the book Super Duper You by Sophy Henn. We will also be learning about traditional tales such as The Little Red Hen and The Three Little Pigs.
In the Spring term, we will be learning about life now and in the past and we will use the book Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge by Mem Fox to discuss memories and what is important to us. We will also look at new life and have the excitement of hatching eggs in the class- how many chicks will we get this year?
For the Summer term we will be exploring the world around us, both locally and through finding out about other countries. We will use the books We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen and Commotion in the Ocean by Giles Andreae to explore where animals live in the world and how the environment affects this.
We promote our school Christian Values of Love, Trust and Wisdom in everything we do.
